Brownsville Civic Neighborhood Association is Honored at November 2016 School Board Meeting

On November 23, 2016, School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was honored to recognize Brownsville Civic Neighborhood Association for their service and work to improve the lives of our Brownsville children and families.

Booker T. Washington Senior students share highlights about their College Tour

District 2 School News: School Board Vice Chair Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) attended the College Aspirations breakfast held at Booker T. Washington Senior High School. With the generous support of The Bayside Foundation, The Education Fund, and BTW Foundation, 47 seniors were able to tour the following Florida universities: (BCU, UCF, FSU, and FAMU). Thanks to Principal William Aristide, adminsitration, teachers, and staff for providing this educational experience for our students. Go Tornadoes! 

Save the Babies Haiti Relief Project

MDCPS Vice-Chair, Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall joins the Haitian-American Hurricane Matthew Relief Effort Coalition to remind those that the assistance for Haiti is on-going. “Save the Babies: Haiti Relief Project,” seeks members of the community to donate baby supplies for areas still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Matthew which took place in October. The children in these areas need your assistance and any bit can make a difference. We have partnered up with Man Dodo Foundation, a 501(c) (3), non-profit organization, serving as the fiscal agent for the Haitian American Hurricane Matthew Relief Effort (HAHMRE), a coalition of over 25 South Florida Organizations.

We encourage you during the holidays to pick a few items for these children and share this information throughout your networks.

Baby Items To Be Collected:

  • Special foods (enough for several days)
  • Powdered Formula (enough for several days)
  • Diapers
  • Over the Counter Children Medicines
  • Blankets
  • Diaper Rash Ointment
  • Baby Wipes
  • Powder
  • Bottles
  • Pacifier
  • Baby Blankets
  • Pediasure and Pedialyte
  • Medicine Dropper
  • Sanitary Napkins NO TAMPONS
  • Individually Wrapped Toilet paper, toilettes, soap, baby wipes, liquid hand sanitizer
  • Childrens’ Clothing
  • Children’s Toys

We will be collecting the following items to be shipped to the most hit areas in Haiti from November 1st to November 30th from 9AM to 5PM at two drop-off location:
