The annual event includes presentations from M-DCPS administration and information on how the sorority can support our children and schools. Proud to Support our Liberty City children and families

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) met with Ms. Latousha Daniels, the new CEO of Miami Children’s Initiative. As a State Representative, Dr. Bendross-Mindingall passed legislation and brought home $3.6 million to fund this program in Liberty City.

We look forward to working together to improve the lives of our children and families in our community.

Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) sponsors policy item to ensure school safety

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) sponsored H-17 Providing a Safe Learning Environment for Students, Teachers, and Staff, at the April 25th School Board Meeting.

The item adopts policy position to not arm any additional school personnel other than school resource officers (SRO’S) and school police. Pursuant to the Coach Feis guardian program, the item requests that the funds be used to train and hire additional SRO’s and school police.

Saluting District 2 senior, Emmanuel Sanon, on Academic Signing Day

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was proud to recognize Emmanuel Sanon, graduating senior at William H. Turner Technical Arts Senior High School, during Academic Signing Day at the School Board Meeting.

Mr. Sanon earned $300,000 worth of college scholarships and will attend Dartmouth College. We salute Emmanuel’s parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and Principal Frazier for educating our extremely bright and hard working student.

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was proud to recognize four outstanding graduating seniors for their academic achievements at the April 25th School Board Meeting.

We salute Anwar Taylor (Turner Tech), Paula Garranchan, Faith Robinson, and Triniti Wade (SAS-North Campus) and wish them success on their academic journey!

Honoring VonCarol Kinchens at the School Board Meeting

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was honored to recognize Ms. VonCarol Kinchens for her service and commitment to improving the lives of our children and families. Ms. Kinchens is the first African-American female to serve as the Director for the City of Miami N.E.T. Office.

We honor Ms. Judy Rodriguez (COPE Center North) – Teacher of the Year Runner Up; Mr. Aaron Taylor (Henry E.S. Reeves Elementary) – Finalist; Mr. Ricardo Losada (Lindsey Hopkins Technical College), Rookie Teacher of the Year Runner Up; and all teachers for their passion and commitment to educating our precious children.
