District 2 School News – School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross Mindingall (D-2) was honored to visit the students at Lakeview Elementary School. Congratulations to our 4th Graders on their academic success.

Law Day with our students at Brownsville Middle School 

District 2 School News – The 3rd District Court of Appeals hosted our students from Brownsville Middle School’s Law Academy in commemoration of American Bar Association Law Day on May 23, 2017..  In the month of May, the law firm of Hamilton, Miller, Birthisel hosts Law Day activities with their adopted school. Thanks to Principal Ebony Dunn, administration, teachers, staff and parents for supporting this great partnership.

Career Day at Charles R. DreW K-8 Center was a SUCCESSS

District 2 School News – 2017 Career Day was a tremendous success at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center. Special thanks to State Representative Cynthia A. Stafford (D-109), Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert III, Miami Chairman Keon Hardemon (D-5), Oscar winner Tarell Alvin McCraney, Local 10 Reporter Terrell Forney , law enforcement, firefighters, Jessie Trice Center, Circle of Brotherhood, and so many community leaders for taking the time to speak to and inspire our students.

2017 TLI Invention Expo showcases our bright students

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was excited to attend the 1st Annual Technology Leaders Initiative 2017 Invention Expo at William H. Turner Tech Arts High School.

$4 million Groundbreaking at Toussaint L’Ouverture Elementary School 

District 2 School News – School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) celebrated the GOB Project Groundbreaking at Toussaint L’Ouverture Elementary School. 

The voter approved GOB will invest $4 million dollars to fund the following improvements: classroom technology, demolition of portables, new covered walkway, restroom renovations, HVAC replacement, exterior painting, new chiller and cooling tower plant, new media center rooming and flooring, replacement of exhaust hood and gas piping in kitchen, selective interior painting, and other upgrades.

Brownsville Middle Family Fun Fest

District 2 School News – School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) attended the BMS Family Fun Fest held at Brownsville Middle School.  The event included encouraging words from Dr. Bendross-Mindingall, safety presentations from Miami- Dade Police officers, and health tips from John Peavy Community Health Clinic.  Afterwards, the hard working students were treated to a fun-filled day of games, activities, delicious food, and music. Thanks to Principal Ebony Dunn, administration, Children’s Trust CEO James Haj, teachers, staff, and parents for educating our students.
