Street Naming Ceremony for the late King Carter 

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) attended the Street Designation Ceremony sponsored by County Commissioner Jean Monestime for the late King Carter. 

On what would have been his 8th birthday, we joined the parents, Santonio and Monica, family, friends, and community to celebrate his short life. We must continue to work together to stop gun violence towards our precious children. 

Honoring Overtown Youth Center’s Tina Brown at the School Board Meeting 

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was honored to recognize Tina Brown at the monthly School Board Meeting. Executive Director Brown was praised for her tireless work in educating and supporting our students and families in Overtown.

Honoring Assistant Principal of the Year Ms. Cisely Scott at the School Board Meeting

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was honored to recognize our 2016-17 Assistant Principal of the Year Ms. Cisely Scott at the monthly School Board Meeting. Assistant Principal Scott was commended for her outstanding work in educating our students at Lenora B. Smith Elementary School.

Academic Celebration at Lakeview Elementary School 

District 2 School News – School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross Mindingall (D-2) was honored to visit the students at Lakeview Elementary School. Congratulations to our 4th Graders on their academic success.

Law Day with our students at Brownsville Middle School 

District 2 School News – The 3rd District Court of Appeals hosted our students from Brownsville Middle School’s Law Academy in commemoration of American Bar Association Law Day on May 23, 2017..  In the month of May, the law firm of Hamilton, Miller, Birthisel hosts Law Day activities with their adopted school. Thanks to Principal Ebony Dunn, administration, teachers, staff and parents for supporting this great partnership.  

Special Thanks to Attorney Marlon Hill for coordinating this educational and inspiring experience for our students. Go Falcons!

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was honored to recognize Ms. Sharron Henley,  VP of Programs at Urban League of Greater Miami and Host of Conversations with Charito, at the School Board Meeting. We salute Ms. Henley for her wonderful work and service to the children and families in our community.

District 2 School News – 2017 Career Day was a tremendous success at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center. Special thanks to State Representative Cynthia A. Stafford (D-109), Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert III, Miami Chairman Keon Hardemon (D-5), Oscar winner Tarell Alvin McCraney, Local 10 Reporter Terrell Forney , law enforcement, firefighters, Jessie Trice Center, Circle of Brotherhood, and so many community leaders for taking the time to speak to and inspire our students.
