Honoring Girl Power at the School Board Meeting 

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was honored to recognize Girl Power at the August 9th School Board Meeting. We salute Girl Power CEO Thema Campbell, Girl Power Board Members, staff, and parents for mentoring and educating our deserving girls. 

We are also grateful to Girl Power for presenting the 2016-17 Educator of the Year Award to Dr. Bendross-Mindingall. 

STEM Symposium for our students at Charles Hadley Park

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) spoke about the history of Railroad Shop Colored Addition to students attending the STEM Symposium and Lunch held at Charles Hadley Park’s Sam K. Johnson Youth Center.  

Thanks to Carollo Engineers, in partnership with the Liberty City Optimist Club, for hosting the Near to Peer presentation for about 100 middle and high school students. This workshop educated kids about wastewater and the importance of clean water to our community.

District 2 Gives Back at Farm Share Food Distribution in Brownsville

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2), along with Jessie Trice Community Health Center, Circle of Brotherhood, BCNA, and ICYEC will co-host a Farm Share Food Distribution to feed 500 residents on Friday, August 11, 2017, 9am – 12pm, at the Neighbors and Neighbors Association  (formerly Floral Heights Elementary facility), 5120 NW 24th Avenue in Brownsville. 

Everyone is welcomed to attend and receive fresh food at this free community event. We suggest you bring a cart or a large bag to carry your items.
