The Brownsville Unity Music Project is a great partnership with UM, The Knight Foundation, Miami-Dade County, and FIU that provides free music lessons for our students.

Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) sponsors policy item to ensure school safety

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) sponsored H-17 Providing a Safe Learning Environment for Students, Teachers, and Staff, at the April 25th School Board Meeting.

The item adopts policy position to not arm any additional school personnel other than school resource officers (SRO’S) and school police. Pursuant to the Coach Feis guardian program, the item requests that the funds be used to train and hire additional SRO’s and school police.

Saluting District 2 senior, Emmanuel Sanon, on Academic Signing Day

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was proud to recognize Emmanuel Sanon, graduating senior at William H. Turner Technical Arts Senior High School, during Academic Signing Day at the School Board Meeting.

Mr. Sanon earned $300,000 worth of college scholarships and will attend Dartmouth College. We salute Emmanuel’s parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and Principal Frazier for educating our extremely bright and hard working student.

Talented Bulls shine at Miami Northwestern PAVAC Spring Showcase

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was excited to attend and support our talented Bulls at the 2018 PAVAC Spring Showcase at Miami Northwestern.

Welcome U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) to Arcola Lake Elementary School

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) welcomes U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) to visit our Embrace Girls at Arcola Lake Elementary School. Our Embrace girls participate in the mindfulness program sponsored by Inner Explorer and Aetna.

Mindfulness programs significantly improve mental health, capacity to learn, and kindness
– reducing bullying, aggression and violence.

Janet Hubert aka “Aunt Viv” reads to Embrace Girls at Arcola Lake Elementary School

School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall (D-2) was excited to welcome Actress Janet Hubert to read her book “J.G. and the B.C. Kids” to our Embrace Girls at Arcola Lake Elementary School.

Our B.C. aka Bright Children were able to ask Ms. Hubert about her life and work as an actress and author.
